But now a new question arises...

Does the ritual candle have to be lit?

Lemme think about that one ...

Fades off into thought ...

Sees a vision of a healer lighting a candle and placing it on the ritual field.
Fighter comes running over, needing healing ...
Aberrent with tattered rags lumbers over to attack them ...
The fighter jumps up to defend the healer, knocking over the candle ...
The ritual field erupts into flame - and shortly afterwards so does the caster ...
In an effort to make thier last act one of selfless sacrifice, the healer tackles the Aberrent ...
The Aberrent catches fire, but shrugs off the flailing healer and runs for the woods ...
Halfway to the woods, the Aberrent falls to the ground engulfed in flame ...
The flames catch the dry grass on fire, which quickly spreads ...

PC's at the tavern look out and comment on the great special effects ...

Zips back into reality ...

Um, no, I guess not ...

Think

And what if you carry your components in a leather pouch? And when you cast, place said pouch on the ritual field.

If you can't do it that way, why?

Chris, I hate to give you more of a headache, but why can't all the casters have electric candles?

Will you buy them (and the batteries), Anakin?

I'm sure tan electronic candle is fine to light. I believe Chris was commenting on the flame causing real fires.

So, I take it as "you don't have to light a real candle with actal flame but if you wanna turn on your little LED candle, g'head!"

I still think we should allow "Battle healers." Essentially let a healer heal on the run and with a quick incantation but cost double sStam.

Meh. I gots lots of potion....

Dwayne

I think Dwayne makes a certain amount of sense here.

Or perhaps the "battle heal" would be a less effective heal (possibly 1/2 effect, round up) and suffer a "Slam effect", or some such.

Just throwing it out there...
