Vinnie, something you said in the Tavern confused me, so I'm looking for a clarification.

Your character claimed that learning to use a Dagger to cut ropes and stop Killing Strikes will be very hard. Since Small Weapon is a 0-cost skill, do you mean that it will be hard to get a Physical Pool of 1?

Here is the text:
Small Weapon Combat [Physical/Other 0]: You may wield a single dagger or other 'small' weapon (of 24" in length or less) to use weapon-required skills, block, use uncalled strikes in combat, or death strike. You must have at least 1 point of maximum Physical Stamina to use this skill, but it has no Stamina cost. This skill is free to all characters.

I have a racial disadvantage that makes all physical skills cost extra XP.

If it is a multiplier, twice nothing is still nothing... :-)

Does it apply to Physical pool too?

Yes it applies to the pool, and it's not a multiplier it's all physical skills cost 5xp more. (or something like that)

That's pretty standard for character packages in the Isles. there aren't multipliers for things, instead there are added costs. For you it's phys costs are five points higher; for me it's scholarly stuff.

At very very most that still makes it only 15 xp for a point of physical pool, though, which would let you use small weapons, and then another 15 for Basic Combat if you wanted to wield something like a staff. That's only a session and a half of xp for a perfectly adequate way of participating in melee combat. I know that it can seem painful when the stuff you are especially good at is so relatively inexpensive, but being able to hit things in melee combat is fun, and not buying other stuff for a session or so isn't that bad. (Or you could get more xp by NPCing with us....) :-)
