Let's make this one count people. and it's been a blessing doing this run with you...

In no semblance of order:
1)Chris showing me the song "March to Cambreadth" by Heather Alexander which perfectly captures Arthur's mindset in the last fight.
2)Lying "in state" on the battlefield weapons crossed on my chest, a cloak/shroud laid over me, watcing the moon and stars in the clear night sky, hearing my friends and family wage war all around me, and thinking
"THIS IS AWESOME"!
3)"Don't make this weird" - Not-Mothgar
4)Seeing the new Purgatory toys - those guns rock!
5)The closing comments from all - very profound & emotional, a highly charged time.
6)Seeing fear in the faces of the Aberrant!
7)Brian:I'm sorry it can't go on a few more gathers so we can't see the budding relationship between Arthur and Katya"
Rob: (poleaxed and stunned expression) "Wh-wh-WHAT?"
8)The dinner after finding about the Void cultists, Jaguar Cultists and Theives' Guild. SO much for town Unity!
9)Nicodemus. Rat Bastard!
10)Just stalking through the aberrant horde and laying waste, and later hearing from Brian that I saved the town. I played a part, I know, but it was still cool to hear.

Long Live Isles!

Quick clarification, Arthur -- the new awesome guns that Ford was showing off aren't for Purgatory Station... they're for his new game, The Osiris Sanction :)

1) Jesus trying to take a pacifistic approach to dealing with the Usurja
2) The path lighting for the walk to the Duel with the Chak-Mool. It gave such a beautiful and unearthly feel to the
woods. Apparently, this has been done before, but it was breath taking to see it for the first time.
3) Weddings, weddings and more weddings!
4) "Oops, sorry. But you've got to admit, if Andris was an abberent, that would have been awesome!"
5) Feeling myself actually well up, as Rowan sailed off on the Sun Boat.
6) Ten seconds after the Tunnel of Night closed: *clomp, clomp, Thud* Ow!
7) The Atomic Angel- amazing work guys!
8) Using my new Stun ability on the plague infected Brose and hearing LC comment "Well that was more humane than what I had in mind!"
9) Frantically crab walking away from a horde of Abberent because I couldn't even get back to my feet after being healed, only to get
carted off by Tucker and subsequently rescued by Arthur.
10) KITTENS!!!!!
Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angr...
Wait a second, I think that's that's someone else's tag line.
But seriously: DON'T PISS ME OFF!

This isn't in any particular order - the whole weekend was a glowing time. Some of the points of light though:

1) Promises kept. Over the years, Kazimir had promised two villains that he would be their end. Friday night, he kept one of those promises with the aid of the Omegans, and Saturday night he was lucky enough to be up there with Lucky keeping the other one.

2) A promise made. Kazimir talks a big game of tomcattery. He'll flirt with anybody who seems vaguely interested in flirting with him back. The truth of the matter is, however, that he's always been all talk - he's never been with anyone but Kitten, and doesn't want anybody else. Now he's promised that he'll be there for her forever, and she's been kind enough to put up with him.

3) A coat turned inside-out. At some point, Team 1 had gotten way ahead of the rest of the main body of the town, and surrounded. Kazimir went down and was turned. He wound up bringing down at least four townspeople including Brose and Fandayen before he was stopped.

4) Comeradship. I didn't get to fight alongside each and every person I wanted to, but the list of people Kazimir was able to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with on Saturday is very long. I hadn't fought shoulder-to-shoulder with Kendra in more than a year, I think, and it's really a great treasure. I don't think I'd *ever* been able to get that opportunity with Andris before, and holy cow had I been missing out! Everybody fought so well. It was really moving.

5) Leadership. When I said "push" team 1 pushed. I think we may have been the only team where every member got the briefing about the timer on the CLeansing Device. There was a sense of urgency and togetherness of Team 1 that made us a fearsome force on Saturday night. My suspicion is that every single team shone like beacons in this way, but because we were all in our own groups of six, I didn't get to see it, which is the downside.

6) A farewell. He knew better than almost anybody (except Galinda and possibly Rowan himself) what Rowan was getting himself into. It was very difficult to have to send his little brother off that way, but it does open up new opportunities for fishing trips.

7) Kestra-Norte - this is always a highlight, but this year Kazimir fully expected that Djal, who cheats Death, would attempt to make some gains by ambushing the ceremonies and thus taking some townspeople out of the fight (or turning them) as well as denying the town a Peace Ward for later. Instead, we were treated to a truly beautiful walk in the woods with all of our friends.

8) Silliness. Saturday morning, getting dressed, no packets, one bullet, sword across the room, a goblin comes in the house, looks around, and says, conspiratorially, "Don't make this weird," and proceeds to climb into Kaz's bed next to his still-drowsy wife. "That's my wife," says Kazimir, who then drags the Goblin out of the house by his ankles, and wishes him a good morning, before shutting the cabin door again. You kinda had to be there, but it was really funny at the time.

There were lots more. Kazimir had to try and find ways to tell people that he was prepared to die for them. He wasn't able to most of the time. He had to contend with the fact that once he'd really let it out of the bag how he feels about Kitten, he wasn't ever really going to be able to stop - that got him nearly killed more than once Saturday night when Kitten had been turned.

1> Seeing Lycian (sorry if I spelled this wrong) walking towards the fighting Satuday night and asking, "are you all right, you look disturbed?" and him responding with this still wth look "Death....just fixed my armor."
2> Talking with Mal at that bar and admiring the spiffy dracul staff and after being told that only Mal could lift it because for anyone else it would be like lifting a tree, suggesting "Well, let's stand it on the bar so I can dance." and watching Mal stop in mid sentence with a complete mind twist look on his face.
3>The Atomic Angel of Doom!
4> Laying on the floor of the stage and decoding pages, realizing what it was saying and thinking "Holy shit this could be Very Bad." After that dubbing the book we were sent after as the Book of Bad.
5> Everyone coming together to Get Shit Done- without questions of payments or profits, just making sure people had what they needed to be at the top of their game for the apocalypse.
6> Adding another tattoo, one with such personal meaning to Avian who has come to fully trust in the Hand of Fate to guide her, even if people did think it looked like I was dope slapped by a smurf.
7> Getting my cards read Sunday morning- that was so accurate for Avian that it was a little scary, and she was thrilled to see the fate card show up there.
8> Knowing there was a chance that we'd fail to disarm the bomb. I've been in a few larps that have done "End Of The World!!!11!one!" plots with no backup plan as to what would happen if the PC's failed to save the world. It doesn't feel like saving the world when you know that if you fail, plot will come in and save you some how (Opps, turns out the timer broke so the bomb doesn't go off)
9> Crying at the loss of my brother and watching as Death herself escorted Arthur back with her.
10> all the heartfelt sentiments at closing. You all truely are the greatest group I've ever played with and you made each event feel like a gathering of family- granted a family that often tries to kill each other, but still family.

1. The sight (and unearthly screams) of the Atomic Angel. Holy crap.
2. Rowan and Sigil sailing off as the sun rose Sunday morning.
3. Adam's goblin's "Don't make this weird" incident. One of the funniest things from any Isles event.
4. Seeing dozens (!) of Aberrant coming at us Saturday night, and thinking, "We're doing this."
5. Watching jaws drop when I revealed the Thieves' Guild… finally!
6. Having a long talk with Sigil, and realizing Brock's new task ahead. Thanks, Chris.
7. Fighting until myself and everyone around me was out of everything, including energy to keep going… and then winning. Team 3 rocked. Fighting alongside Althea, Firefox, Wynter, and especially Will deCanta was awesome.
8. Seeing a pile of discarded armor, swords, and guns in a heap just outside the peace ward after we'd killed Djal. That image summed up the end of the war better than all the cheers and victory toasts.
9. Being Kaz's best man at his wedding, which meant I could hear him whisper such romantic things as, "Aw, darlin', you're getting all teary-eyed. You look like you stubbed your big toe."
10. Hunting in the forest alongside Kaz and Brose one last time.

1) "Don't make this weird". I patted my other side in bed, there was PLENTY of space for Kaz to join me, no idea why he got all upset.

2) Going off to go hunt down specific players to take down and get information out of as an recently infected (thus doomed) Scallisi. Get into the woods, and who is the first person I run into? Target number 1 Brose, alone, and far from help... really? Then of course seeing what came out of it later...Never can assume what encounter will turn into a big role-play situation.

3) Out sitting in the shadows as an Abberant Lieutenant watching the PCs fight with my minions, realize the Atomic Angel is happening but due to my angle I wouldn't be able to see it. Get up and walk through the players completely in game, even saying excuse me at one point, to get a better view. Once it ended, realize I am smack in the middle of a ton of my enemies... perfect!

4) Later once again as an Abberant Lieutenant, I was hiding the bushes listening to Thooid, Kitten, Kazamir and a few others next to their cabin talking by the rope lights. Waiting for the perfect chance to ambush them. Annoyingly they got up and left too quickly and were too close together to pick anyone off properly. So I walked over to the Cabin and waited until they came back, and got lucky with just Kitten and Haruko for prey. I must say I LOVE a good real OOG scream of fear, means I am doing something right (and makes it feel like waiting in the dark bushes for half hour or more was worth it).

5) The beginning of the Final fight Saturday: As one of Djal's chief Lieutenants I was watching with glee as the Hoards of Abberant were keeping those pesky New Avinians from making it halfway across the field and fence. I stayed back watching the battle enfold, barked orders and instructions to fill in gaps in the line and pick off isolated enemies. But what made it awesome was the Player Turning point. I don't know what happened or how, but suddenly the players rallied, and started to push and keep their lines together. I start scrambling to keep them back to no avail, was cool to see (from an OOG perspective) you guys get your stuff together and really drive home.

6) Almost Imediatly after Favorite number 5, the players were just at the fence. That same Lieutenant arranged for a team of 6 Abberant to slow their advance at the gate, while I managed to break through the PC flanks and run behind their line. I think I got a hit on 1/3 the town during this suicidal attack, and enjoyed alot of OOG screams when I surprised people from behind. Until getting caught by the other side of the gate and getting torn asunder... I think there were at least 5-6 People death-striking me at once.

7) Also During the Saturday night fight: The players have pushed us halfway across the smaller field. I am trying to hold back one flank, and suddenly Kitten and Haruko show up from behind our lines and ask for orders. Haruko I tell to just keep healing me, Kitten I tell to keep anyone from stopping her... Disgusting combo I must say, I was really enjoying the look of frustration from Kaz's (and others) face(s) when unable to advance with the three of us as opposition. Benedict Arnold award from me, best traitors ever.

8) The Final fight with Djal's last remaining Lieutenant: boffer art. Ej... I swear that kid has got some ninja blood in him.
Adam Hurley multitasking NPC of doom!
When you get Castrated twice in the same day as different roles somthing is clearly wrong... half swear the town is filled with naught but evil-twisted-socipathic-monsters. Pff and they say I'm the bad guy

10. "Yeah, cause we had no idea what we were going to have to face once we got up there. We thought you were going to be like 'Oh, welcome to the realm of Death, here, you now have to fight all these hellhounds and demons and sh*t and now that you've finally made it to the sunboat--guess what!? You now have to fight f*cking Ottl for the chance to even ride.'"
"Damn, why didn't I hear about this sooner? I totally would have done it that way..."
~ Carl hearing about what we thought might actually was going to happen in getting to the sunboat.

9. STOMP STOMP CRASH! "Ow... Gee, thanks for leaving the light guys...!"
~ Carl crashing into the sunboat because we had already taken the lantern from the prow.)

8. EPVOT Center: "We can get two people with great strength to throw someone off the roof of the tavern and call it 'Soarin': New Avinnia'!"

7. Struggling through the Scotsman only to have Will sneak up behind me for the punchline.

6. Seeing the path lit up with Sylum sticks for Kestra Norte, and doing it outside one last time. (AND beating the Chakmul in honour combat!)

5. "TEAM FIVE TO ME! TO M---Oh, you're all here. Well, come on, let's GO!" (Seriously, could not think of a better group to be paired with for the fight! Thanks team five!)

4. "GO! GO! GO! GO! If you're not advancing or taking someone down, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG....!!!!!"

3. PFFFT!! "Aljuna's getting married to... SKIK?!?" (ow I have oj in my nose now)

2. "Seriously? You've been doing this *how* long...? Really...!?"

1. Riding the Sunboat with his friends' and family's love behind him.

Thank you all for a wonderful 5 years! I look forward to killing you, later!

Ok, Wow what an event, even for only 1/2 time.

Realizing that there was only at best a 50% chance of being able to make it all but still being able to work out an ending regardless of what happened. For a fuller explanation see my Andris and Oct event thread.

Nice touches though:

Brose; Andris you don't even have to ask. when I asked about formal re-admittance to the colony or facing his judgement in regards to the earth edict

Firefox returning what was left of my estate... ah I don't have your armor, or grenades ... But there is a new mage who is a little less squishy... I truly did want anything I had to be used in defense of the colony.
I still remember Firefox chewing me out for not hurrying when we were going to woods running into Murro or Skalisi and asking me to go to the tavern toget backup before crossing the bridge... [Ok the player was sore that day] but it really did set Andris mind in motion about wanting to make sure she in particular and the colony knew where his loyalties lied ... but finally Skik???

At the bar: Ah... I think he remembers.... Brenna we need you to fix Andris

Kestra Norte
The walk.
discussing tactics while observing the combat.
Seeing Metya nod knowingly as Andris stepped away in a bit of fear as she held the incense.

During the first part of the wave battle running down the hill then having an NPC drop directly in the path of my momentum but side stepping

Being one of the first individuals turned... and then again and again, a total of 5 times. Whose bright idea was it to send the "bomb" squad out on point :-)

Fighting Jeff as one of Jahl's lt:
hit with uncalled.. no effect grrr.
hit with a 4... reduce to 1...
Ok, fine... take a set of called twos... and again... and again... ok this is effective calling out to all in range the "tactic" then Jeff I guess decided he had enough; dropped me with multiple called threes.

Getting cut down and having a maimed LC heal me. Then having a full wave of Abarrent walk over us, finally saying to LC you ready... yup ... only to be cut down by Katja

Fighting the last Lt. [was that you Andy?]
Lycan and I working together to separate the "backpack" affected by physical damage from the lt and as soon as the opening a gap seeing [ok hearing] the psychic brigade just lay into the Lieutenant en mass.
After the fact realizing that Arthur was drawing the remaining aberrant off in his final stand which kept our backs cleared

Defending Kitten while she was working on the "bomb"
having my sword disarmed and then seeing a different enemy trying to walk away with it... pulling my pistol and hitting, followed by its last words of "that works..."

Grabbing the Tiger by the tail

A bit later fighting side by side with Kaz; he goes down... and is being dragged away.
Great Strength--- [by leg] Then Chris turns around and whack...
Kaz is dragged further way and I reach out again but this just by happenstance get his tail
Call out [Great Strength By the tail] Chris turns around again whack [3 damage] --> unstable. Last thought: well Kaz was definitely NOT playing possum.
Post Mortum... From JD.... If I was you Andris... I wouldn't ever tell Kaz you grabbed him by the tail... Kitten either.

Walking Arthur's body to the Tavern with JD and setting him up with polearm and mug [ala end of 13th warrior] Unfortunately it apparently was too life like...

After the battle realizing that I had earned "1 fame point". Then seeing Lycan pull out at least a dozen [apparently from earlier] But thinking its appropriate let others seek the glory and fame, I will always continue to serve my part to defend my home and family.

Tens!

1. OMG THAT ANGEL. That looked brilliant. Firefox has one big fear, which is tech. She won’t do dealings with the fae because they make her uneasy. But damn, that angel ranks to the top of everything she’s seen XD
2. Saturday’s battle. Also brilliant. The voice yelling commands over the mic was chilling. Team 3, the five of us were awesome. By the sounds of it all the mini groups were perfectly set up.
3. LOL. Asking Skik for a REALLY REALLY BIG FAVOR. To marry Firefox so that she wouldn’t have to go visit the Scalese Thaskali-kin tribe as an unattached female.
4. Decorating for KnK’s wedding XD GOD THAT WAS HORRID. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING LETTING FIREFOX DO THAT, KITTEN? For anyone that didn’t hear Firefox’s explanation about the orange/purple colors… orange was for Kaz, and purple was for Kitten (’cause I think her polearm has purple on it) and they were JOINING THE TWO~ … In theory anyway. I feel bad that Max and Bamunge had to stand on that too. Ouch. …and the runway I actually found at iparty so I didn’t have a color choice.
5. Having Andris’ will. That was highly surprising XD I totally don’t remember chewing him out that one time… may have been during the systrillian rage stuff lol.
6. Actually getting a lot of hits on Kensin (sp)/Chris Saturday night dual-wielding one of my swords and Wynter’s sword. Booyah! And then the jerk ran for backup. Wuss.
7. Coming across Death on the battlefield and asking how she felt about this and if she could help, then finding out that she wanted the bad guy dead just as much and was sending our people back and keeping the dead aberrant. Later very likely insulting her by mistaking her as LC and then skirting away.
8. Fixing Arthur’s armor after he had already invoked Hero’s Death and woefully pushing him into battle with luck.
9. Finding out, after most of the day urging Wynter to tell Brose that she was pregnant (and I know I wasn’t the only one, I was starting to wonder if the entire town knew – except Brose), that he knew all along. Firefox was damn proud of Brose for letting Wynter go out into combat with that knowledge.
10. SURIVING THE APOCALYPSE. Drunken singing with Will and Rowan! Kaz standing on a chair! …frightening poor, poor Skik probably the entire time. Never taking a free drink from Liacan again because he gave her a cure poison! PFFF! But it was actually perfect because almost immediately after, Galinda comes in to tell Firefox that Penance was outside and rushing out to see the spirit off. If she was still drunk she prob would’ve hugged him (can you hug a spirit?) though now I kinda wish she tried anyway XD Oh well.

Oh, and one more note on the battle - being REALLY glad Brose was in our six little Scalesi tribe. Getting his calls for physical stamina (though I didn't keep it for long) was a blessing.

In no real order:

Finding out who was involved with what over the years. Galinda did WHAT!? :)

Finally getting rid of the Guildmaster albatross. Thanks Brock!

The fight on Friday against Dracul. It was a lot more personal and satisfying than the Fight Against Jahl on Saturday.

Going from practically wanting to kill Varius to he and I finishing each others' sentences.

And I'd like to thank Varius, Althea and Brenna for helping me with the List of Teams.

In no particular order.

- “Stun! Stun! Stun!” Should have bought that skill combo years ago. Cost well over a hundred XP and I had to be a sociopathic lizard to do it, but the look on people faces when I first brought that out made it all worth it.
- Skik gets married. One of the perks of not getting the whole “marriage” thing in the first place is it just didn’t seem like that big a favor.
- Talking to Death and realizing that the big reason why I have been reluctant to take Death up on her offer was not going to be an issue, and the smaller reason I was reluctant she already knew about and didn’t see as a problem.
- Atomic Angel. Awesome!
-It took four years, but Skik finally got some sanity loss.
- The Saturday night fight was terrific. I had been saving all my Karma for that fight, had kept a couple of one shot fae stamina items from the previous year, bought extra sustenance, had the extra Karma item, and still burned through everything faster than I would have liked.
-Lucky apologizing to me after the fight for killing me while I was under Jahl’s influence. His group hadn’t figured out that some of the town was being turned and when I dropped him he got mad. Skik doesn’t get mad about these things, he just files them away for later reference. Not going to be an issue with the campaign over but Lucky dropped a bunch of notches in Skik’s healing priority list.

The best-of-the-top were of course the items almost everyone has brought up: the Atomic Angel, the weddings, & the Saturday night fight (both the number of Aberrant and how well the small groups worked). The Bomb itself was pretty cool, and just knowing that it WOULD have gone off if we'd blown it.....

From Markesh's standpoint, it was good to reach a sort of 'closure' with the physical CM. Within 30 seconds or so or my original arrival on Asylum, he maimed me when I tried to attack him. (He WAS heading right for me with claws, y'know). I've sort of turned 180 degrees on the CM over the years, and now really respect (vs fear) him/them. Should have started using a sword some time ago, apparently.

And of course I was pleased to get a glimpse of the 'track' ahead for TIPS.

This is in no order. It’s just written as I thought of moments. This is also not every important moment of the event, just some of them.

1. The Atomic Angel was one of the most amazing things I have seen at a LARP.
2. Every Kestra Norte, I look forward to the challenges of helping lost spirits. There was nothing pleasant about informing Cpt. Moroni that his daughter was one of the spirits I helped.
3. The mass confusion and death was insane Friday night. There was a frightening lack of tactics that was getting us killed.
4. Saturday night’s battle we were so organized. It was so different from Friday. I think it made a huge difference.
5. During the big fight... Draden is down with a maimed limb... As I knelt next to him to start healing, there are around 4-6 aberant closing in. I knew that AhPuch and her servant are right behind Draden, He started yelling at me to run and leave him. I stayed, trusting that she'd protect me while I did what she had bid me to do, which was heal people.
6. The lengths we went to in order to gain enough Karma to give mages one more Lifeline each.
7. Getting pulled out of battle to speak with Ah’Puch. Promising to earn the place set aside for me. Her mother promised her she could walk both paths and it was her opportunity to formally accept it.
8. It was as simple as she hoped it would be; less upsetting then she feared. In the end, she made the choice she didn’t think she would make.
9. The walk through the woods for Kestra Norte was beautiful. Feeling more like she was in the role of guide for the town as they performed the Kestra Norte ritual, then actually a part of the ritual.
10. A long talk with Althea concerning the planning of Kestra Norte and Galinda’s reluctance to write the oath. Finally compromising by re-writing the previous year’s pledge.

As for the trail to the Kestra Norte, I had to finish up some stuff in the tavern so I set out late. I'm not sure how impressive the walk was as part of a large group, but I got to do the whole thing in solitude. It was eerie, sublime and impressive.

Other high points include:

The final battle: I feel like it put every talent to the test. Completely awe inspiring.

The inexplicable complexity of just trying to get a dumb animal down to the paddock. Brick wall

Hearing Liacan proclaim he was "out of ammunition".

The walk to the Sun-boat. It fealt like something out of J.R.R. Tolkien.

The nap after returning from the sun-boat.

Kaz going thanks Deamos and realizing later that it wasn't Deamos.

In no order:

1) Dracul fight - using disengage so much to keep him away from Lorax's tree.

2) Last minute advice to Kitten with her wedding and the look on Kaz's face when he saw her.

3) Planning the teams, it was fun to try and balance them out well. Having Varius be the solo operator was my idea and just perfect on so many levels for his change and balance....

4) Team 3! You all rocked! We did so well out there!

5) Having a spear to use as a weapon, I think I know what my next character weapon of choice shall be....

6) Scariest moment for Althea, having the Mental Chaak Mool almost NOT accept the cider, that was horrifying. She probably shoulda lost San for that one.

7) Winter Caste cubs and having them drink eggnog!

8) Emptying the gypsy chest of goods to help get made all that was needed and seeing everyone else basically doing the same.

9) Near the end of the fight being on the ground cause of damage and San loss and healing Varius then myself so we could get back up.

And more but that's all for now.
