Hey folks -

I wanted to take a minute and say "Thank You" to all of our players and staff,
for completing the 5-year arc of The Isles - Asylum.

As with all things, we (collectively) have had our share of ups and downs.
I think the "ups" outnumber the "downs" for most folks.

Some of the comments at the closing (which I apologize for it being so long),
I thought were very insightful to our game and our players.

We have / had an amazing number of people say that they were either brand-new to
LARPing when the join us, or that they had given up on LARPing and were talked
into trying out The Isles - with no real intent to stick with it.

But, 5 years later - here you all are.

The comments about how the game has challenged you, how it helped you find new
friends, and how in many cases it has resparked that creative, fun desire within
you made me feel like it was all worth it.

Honestly, I had a great time (mostly !) heading things up.
I could never ask for a better group of people to help make it happen -
and in many ways I have become better friends with them that I was before.

I look forward to next year, when I will be out there "on your side".
I will be staying on with Isles -2 as thier General Manager, so you'll still be
able to contact me as a fallback for almost anything to do with the game.

Until January when (hopefully) most of us will meet to create new characters -
or until we next meet at a Bardic Night or some other event -

To all my friends within The Isles,
I wish you all a relaxing, and enjoyable Fall & Holiday season.

-Chris

Chris,

Isles has been so memorable & enjoyable for me, and your efforts helped that to happen. I look forward with fighting WITH you as opposed to fighting against you....

Thank you, Chris for all of your hard work over the years. It has been a very intense and personally-moving time.

There is a school of thought that the value of any art is directly proportional to the way it affects the audience. The Isles: Asylum campaign has been, by that measure, some of the greatest and most beautiful art I have ever experienced in my life.

Chris...

It was great to finally be a part of the event, and it was fun even if it was only my first "Boffer LARP" to get a chance to help be able to give the players what they so deserved... an epic ending to a 5 year run.

I hope that the PCs enjoyed their adventure as much as I did being able to be a part of their story.

To you Chris... I salute you. Thank you for your assistance in helping me to quickly adjust to your LARP format, and making me feel so welcome.

I look forward to fighting along side you in the future.

It seems that every time I contacted you about the game, the phrase "I hope you're having fun." was somewhere in your reply. Thank you so much for all of your hard work to ensure that your players had an amazing experience!

One note of appreciation. One of the reasons I've drifted away from other LARPs is an inability to fail. Some GM's treat the event like it's for nothing like their own enjoyment or some cathartic experience where if the ending isn't the one they've scripted, then they'll bring out the clue-by-4 to force the ending they've envisioned. Hearing that the abberent story arc was due to a failure from earlier on in the campaign completely impressed me. Here is a game where, not only are you allowed to fail, but those failures come back in vivid technicolor and manifest in an epic battle that ultimately give you a sense of real triumph.

Kudo's to Plot, NPC and PC alike for helping to make the story so compelling. It's been a wild ride. You all truely suck less! ;o)

I STILL can't believe nobody gets the awesomeness of Owa's name.

Oh, and I suppose I should also be thankful for all the stress and beatings over the years. :)
Chris - I really meant it every time I said 'Thanks for putting up with us/me'.

But here's something else I should have said: Thanks for picking up the battle standard and charging forth, even when the rest of us were beat. Players and staff alike owe you debts we can't repay, and I'm proud to say I had a small role in making it happen.

I've said it before, Chris. This game wouldn't have happened without you, and I can't imagine a finer person to have shepherded my baby (since Ford has named me the game's spiritual godfather) for the last five years.

And I'll repeat my warning. You'd better write one damned dull character background...because I intend to make the next five years...interesting for you. ;)

While Andy may make things "interesting", I ensure to make things lethal... (if I am ever within sight armed with a boffer of any kind: don't run, no sense dying tired.)

*Salute*
It was an honor to serve under you boss.

Oh great ... I <may> be able to out-think Andy,
but there is no freakin' way I am gonna outrun (or outfight) Adam ...

Chris,
Thank you for making my... what I now consider my first true LARP experience... a memorable one. You and Brian helped me a great deal to become comfortable, and feel just as welcome as those that have been there a long time, and for that... a hearty HAZZAH!!!Applause

Nick was also a tremendous help to me as well, helping to ease me in to various roles, coaching me... while also allowing me to explore role playing again.

It's because of mostly you three that I have mentioned that cemented my decision to continue with LARPing, and more appropriately with The Isles.

I thank you for your patience and time.

Chris,

Thank you for the years of entertainment. I can only hope to repay you by entertaining you and the rest of the players at least half as well as you have for the past five years. The quality you and the rest of the plot team put into the first campaign serve as inspiration for me.

What James (Kazimir) said goes for me as well. The Isles: Asylum was a truly remarkable piece of art. Thank you Chris.
