I am not a member of "old, fat and broken" yet, but I appreciate this ruling because of MUD. Even though I bring lots of spare costuming to every game, I don't want to be cleaning mud out of my clothing above the knees.

I'll take this option when the ground is a soupy mess. Thanks, Chris.

I don't think any change should be made. I appreciate the plot peoples decision to try and give the people who have problem a different option, but if to them its not a good one we are better off with the status quo. I appreciate the thought tho.

I don't think it's a matter of those of us who NEED an option not liking it. It's my understanding that questions posed were more of the "what about <insert here>". It's people seeking more information, more clarification, so that they don't break the rules.

Prior to this ruling, if I couldn't kneel I would cry out in Agony, grab the limb initially, and bend over as far as I could. I would stay this way, defending myself as best I could, until I was healed, splinted or knocked unconcious. I always made a point to tell the NPC who had caused it that I couldn't get down on my knees. Basically, I was already doing what this rules addenda is suggesting. I always try to get down on one knee, it's just sometimes I either can't without huge amounts of pain, or know that if I do get down there I most likely won't be able to get back up.

It is my understanding that this rule is for people with physical infirmities that prevent them from being on the ground (ie. bad knees, injured spines, recent surgeries), not for those who don't want to get dirty (no offense, Anakin).

Translation: Whine before asking for clarification.

What did we ever do to you?

Translation: Let me throw some sarcasm on my previous whining to make it seem like I 'm not whining.

Quote:
You gonna give me all the parts I need for that, too? Yeah, good luck with that.

Translation: Let's point out the worst case scenerio that can only happen if the clarification is completely unreasonnable - which has never been the case with Chris or the Isles staff.

Quote:
...you left out an option. Don't play.

Translation: A thinly veiled threat to quit. As Brian pointed out, if giving you ANOTHER option (which fits in perfectly with the way you've been playing it ANYway) is a reason to quit, there are bigger problems to discuss.

I calls 'em as I sees 'em, folks.

Todd, you're my oldest friend and I love ya, but you veered way out in left field on this one. You've called me on doing that plenty in the past so I figure you can take it.

Anyway, time for me to go to work.

Have a nice day, all! Happy Friday!

Last thing: Though this option was CLEARLY not meant for it, I think Anakin's thought that it's use be allowed in potentially costume damaging situations is a good one. In such conditions, I hardly ever kneel but squat instead saying "Forgive me but I'm not kneeling in a puddle." I don't think it's unreasonable.

All right ...

Where to start ...

Dwayne - Chill out. Your (next to) last post was not really constructive.
Well, it coul have been, but you put your own take on it, which served
no real constructive purpose.

The Rule & It's Applications -
I expect people to play by the actual accelerant rules, unless you have a
physical disability that impacts play. My NPC's hit the ground time after time
during the events, dirt - mud - or grass. You all know we do our best to keep things
in safe areas, we do our best to avoid mud during the events. Dwayne's note about squatting
as opposed to actually taking a knee - completely acceptable to me. As much as anything,
it is about letting the person who attacked you know that you got the effect.
Everyone knows the frustration of not having an attack acknowledged - be it a maim,
agony, whatever. Sure, you get to take the points back if they don't acknowledge the
call by taking the effect or by calling a resistance. But if you think you are just
being ignored - that gets to you after a while. The NPC's are no different.

In many ways, we all have gotten much better at playing by the accelerant rules.
In other ways, we are starting to get sloppy as well. See my new post about casting
Wizardry ...

In the greater scope of this discussion, unless there is something important
to add or bring up - let's put this to rest.

These rules will be used in Playtest application. If they don't work out,
we'll let everyone know. We want you, the players, to be able to enjoy the game.
We hope that this helps a little bit.

One last note -

I would like to apoolgize for the slightly antognistic tone my original
reply may have contained. I should not have used the phrase "screw over" -
it was a poor choice of words.

I value all of your inputs. I do wish that we could keep the discussions
friendly - after four and a half years one would think we could all get along :)
