Packets
Packets are small bean bags that are thrown to represent magical attacks or special powers. They should be made of stretchable fabric and filled with birdseed. You should use only small birdseed with no larger or sharper seeds. A square of fabric is pulled around the birdseed and its corners are gathered together to form a “tail” and closed up with strapping tape. You may also sew a packet shut. Sealing the packet with rubber bands or other types of tape will be allowed on a case by case basis, and the packet should have give in any case. Packets with any other material inside will not be allowed.
The head of the packet should be between 1 and 1.5 inches in diameter, and the tail behind the tape should not be longer than 3 inches. The fabric must be stretchable and cannot be pulled so tight that it no longer has give. You should be able to squeeze the center of the packet and almost touch your fingers together.

Now, I've been making packets for myself and for the game for awhile now... and not once have i ever used strapping tape to shut them. Would it be odd of me to suggest taking this out of the rules, because I dont know of anyone who has ever done packets that way.

I never noticed that 'strapping tape' part. Makes no sense to me. Strapping tape is not biodegradable but rubber bands are. The stretchy cloth thing is not very biodegradable either. If I recall correctly, birdseed was chosen exactly because it would have the least impact on the environment; if a packet gets lost in the bushes or something, the worst thing that might happen is a bird or squirrel will get fat or a new bush will sprout. LARP packets are actually eco-friendly and good for the environment.

I use cotton, birdseed and rubber bands.

What does everyone else use?

I use bedsheets mainly because you can get yards and yards of it for like a dollar or two at salvation army.

I learned from Todd and Dwayne...

Cotton (or similar cheap fabric) birdseed, rubber bands(ribbon streamers for arrows, but don't do that too often)
