I have been of the idea for a long time that there needs to be a face to face "forum" of sorts where the intention is two fold 1) to discuss the rules and our general feelings on it 2) for staff to answer questions and make clarifications about certain sections of the rules that are shaky but haven't been discussed. I feel that in this forum there are too many "I didn't see that post" or "I didn't want to get involved in that post situations". This seems to want to happen everytime we start game, however I (and many people) feel that is not the time or the place. I think instead we should put aside a day where we could just all get together (or everyone who wants to) and have a round table discussion on rules matters.

I have a number of ideas and places where I have seen things that could be clarified of make more clear. For example, near the end of last year we clarified and rehashed (or talked about rehashing) Mend Limb, talking about how it wasn't just something everybody could do and we talked about changing the call to "Imbue Mended by Fist Aid". However, that conversation died out and an official announcement has never been made. This is one of the reasons for my idea, if notes were taken during this meeting then we could assemble a list of things to post on the boards of rules clarifications, and at opening ceremonies the "MC" could just get up there and say "1) this 2) this 3) this, these have been discussed and developed there's no more dicussion on them, does everyone understand? ...Good, Game On"

I invite anyone to send me concerns / suggestions they have
in regards to rule, rules clarification, or questions.

I will be posting some new rules that we will be playtesting this season,
I just need a free evening to get to it ...

I hope to get to this, if all else fails, by Thursday evening.

-Chris

PS : While I approve of FtF meetings, it is tough to pull people together -
not to mention, sometimes tough to find the day to do it at all !

I could not agree more, I'm only voicing the opinion that it would get a lot more accomplished.

People seem to like to show up at Bardics... Perhaps a Bardic night that is dedicated to rules discussions might be a good idea?

Perhaps a 'handout' could be posted, say, a week before hand of the topics and suggestions. People could post questions on that same thread. New questions. Not questions on what has been posted as the 'handout.' Save those questions for the Forum.

I know I'd like to present quite a few ideas...

;-)

Bardic is supposed to be a night to relax with friends and enjoy each other's company.

One man's entertainment is another man's drudgery.

I enjoy discussing rules.

Perhaps only those who want to discuss the rules should discuss the rules? It's kind of a 'freedom' thing. Everyone is free to choose what they enjoy.

What of those who need to be there for rules discussion, yet want to be at a Bardic to sing and socialize? Is it fair to cost them a Bardic in order to discuss rules? I think it'd be better to either discuss things on line, or at a dedicated function, rather than re-purposing an existing function.

Apparently people seem to think that we are talking about coopting the Bardic before the event; the XP bardic. Not true (IMO). I think we are just talking about "some tuesday" because people don't seem to have a problem getting to Ye Olde Commons on tuesday night.

It was never my intention to erase a night scheduled for Bardic and write in a "Rules discussion" night.

Y'know, I'm begining to think that the only reason people seem to oppose things I suggest is simply because it is me suggesting them.

Remember the Traps meeting we had with Chris about the Spectrum Traps System, Todd? Something similar to that is what I am talking about but, instead of at Chris's house, having it at Ye Olde Commons, and, instead of scheduling it around *our* schedules, scheduling it on a night that so many people seem to be able to handle. So, I used the tuesday night Bardics as an example of the typical night that people seem to be able to attend.

I'm talking about an *ADDITION* to the schedule. Not an alteration of the exsisting schedule.

welp...it costs YOC to heat the place....and Lee and/or Laura need to be around. It might be a better situation to just have it at our house..perhaps on a weekend night or day. During the week is a hardshp for alot of folks. That way noone is out of pocket or has to be there unless they want to.
Chris would have to be there anyways and I would probably go upstairs and play on the computer cause rules be boring to me :)

That rec room got potential, but the idea is to make it as convient as possible for staff. So I recommend a place that would be most convient for the staff involved. We'll all have to concentrate specificly on the discussion of rules once we get everybody present for a meeting otherwise we can fall into the "no shit there I was" stories til the cows come home.

Personally,
not possible until after the Fall events ...

Between :

Sept. Plot Meeting, Sept. Prep Weekend, Sept Event,
and
Oct. Plot Meeting, Oct. Prep Weekend, Oct. Event

I am unwilling to surrender my one "free" weekend per month.

I will say tho, given the fact that there will be an "Isles 2.0",
I would be completely in favor of doing this in some fashion.
Ideally, I would love to have the remaining kinks in the rules
ironed out for the start of 2.0

I don't think we have many, but it would be nice to go into
the new campaign with a clean rulebook.

On a slightly related note -
You all have no idea how much I am looking forward to
actually "playing" with you all, on the same side !

Having an "ironed out" rulebook and functional economy/production system would be nice for 2.0, I'm willing to offer my input even if we end up having to make new characters and I don't end up a production guy again.

Although for someone like Dwayne I must drive into fits, as I often times don't run with what is economical IG. But you also must remember Salvadore must balance politics as well as money making, if he didn't, he'd never have made it as far as he has.
