Ok, here's the deal :

We are going to phys-rep some low walls outside the barn, around the Gate Area.

The garrison will be ordered to fire upon anyone or anything entering this area without
the specific clearance of a duty officer. The kill zone will be about 15-20 feet wide,
and will be defined by large yellow info triangles posted on the fences below the barn.

Anyone entering the area between the info triangles and the Garrison wall,
without an NPC soldier present to allow them to approach,
will take an effect of "5 damage by firearm" for <each> step they take.

Yes, this is deadly. Consider you see anywhere from 10-12 soldiers on the wall at
any given time, and there are many more who will respond to the wall if called.

During Friday Night, there will be a period during the Gate Cycle when the colonists
will be able to come up and gather supplies & escort new arrivals down to the Tavern.
If you choose, you may report to the Garrison on Saturday Morning to gather in
the supplies from the drop, however all non-Garrison assigned citizens must leave
the Garrison area as soon as the Gate Cycle completes.

(i.e. New players must go into game & may not linger in the Gate area)

This is a new shift on the 'usual' Friday night routine.
There will still be trouble attracted to the Gate Cycle, but now you will be free to deal
with it - and not have to worry about recovering supplies.

This was done mostly to be able to establish an area where we could stage visiting
NPC personas from. Otherwise, we <should> have all arriving characters (PC & NPC)
come thru the gate and report to the Tavern. Our NPC numbers simply don't allow us
to do this. So, we can now just state that people are coming "from the Garrison"
when Empire based NPC's come into game.

I don't think there should be much in the way of questions,
but if there are, post them here please.

What about PCs who currently hold miltary rank? Such as our fuzzy Captain Kazimir?

I'm on sabbatical and out of uniform. Captain Taggart may or may not know who Kazimir is, but in terms of official capacity, Kazimir's once more a civilian now that the Inquisition has suspended his temporarily assigned duty.

All of that aside, there's in-game stuff here; I'll reply in the tavern.

Chris, would it be too much to ask if just before Opening Ceremonies we all went up there to take a look at the way this is phys repped just so there are no questions?

Chris,

Can we make sure the NPC's are notified of this zone also, as any of them trying to run thru there should take the effect also.

Fandayen : As Fagin said - Noted !

The NPC's will be briefed as to this situation, and they should adhere to the same rules as PC's.

Now, that being said - I don't want to see PC or NPC attempting to bait one another into stepping
into the kill zone. I don't want people claiming someone stepped into the kill zone and did not
take damage, blah blah blah. This is one of those spirit / letter of the law items.
Let's play by the spirit of this, shall we ??? Pray

Crovel : If all goes as I hope, the garrison will be set up by the time PC's begin to
arrive, and everyone is welcome to go up and observe the area before game begins.

I want people to be safe, and I want people to know where the 'game effects' are.

So, by all means - if you have a chance before dark on Friday Night of the event,
go up and check out the area around the Gate.

-Chris
